Moyer-Schaaf Distinguished Service Award
Since our Chapter was organized 74 years ago, there have been numerous members who have played a key role in promoting its professional development programs. In 1994, the Chapter adopted the Distinguished Service Award, the Chapter’s highest honor. In creating the Award, it was first decided that, rather than presenting annually, it would only be presented to an individual whose outstanding contributions were so noteworthy as to deserve the special honor. Secondly, selection would be based on a combination of factors that evidence exceptional leadership and commitment to the highest professional standards:
The Rededication of the Distinguished Service Award
Our first recipient was former President, Marie E. Moyer, CLU, and the award was named in her honor in 1994. After her year as President in 1989-1990, Marie faithfully served the chapter as Chapter Executive from 1990 to 2003, when she passed away from cancer.
In 2003, our chapter hired Pat Schaaf to become the new Chapter Executive, and we have been honored by her unwavering loyalty and service to our members. Pat retired in 2014 after serving our chapter for 11 years, and the Board decided to honor Pat by renaming our DSA to honor both Marie Moyer and Pat Schaaf for their outstanding service.
